“Do you have any fucking idea what’ll happen to all of us if this movie is pulled?”

“Calm down, Zikri. We’re working on a solution.” Leon Salvino gestured wildly at Roy Summers and mouthed the question, “Has she contacted you?”

Roy shook his head which elicited a furious glare from his cohort.

“I can’t believe the two of you are this fucking naïve. No one messes with Chan Ho. Don’t you fuckin’ get it? We’re not dealing with the enforcer of the Chinese Mafia. Chan Ho is the goddamned leader of Sun Lee Fong Triads, the biggest and most feared of all the Triad groups in China.”

“We’re not idiots,” Leon sneered, indignant at the insult. “We’re well aware of the repercussions if this movie production doesn’t start soon. As I said, we’re working on a plan.”

“Don’t fuck with me, Salvino. I happen to know that you’re the one holding back on the production schedule. All the actors are under a tight contract to finish the series, there’s no reason for the delay in commencing with filming.”

Leon shifted in his chair. Zikri Malik was shortsighted. There was a lot more at stake than this one movie. Unless he could get the Rothmans to extend their contract with Marvel, they were screwed. He had made a written commitment to the Triads to continue laundering money for them through the Marvel Studios. None of the other Marvel productions were as big and required as much financial backing as the ones the Rothmans were involved in. That was why he’d been able to hide the black money and the underhanded shady dealings he and Roy embarked on together. He already had a new series lined up that would be as big, if not bigger than Space Riders that he wanted to dangle as an enticement but that would only be a success if Shane and Kane played the leading roles. Their characters would make the film a hit, and because the cousins were so popular, the public loved them acting together. It was guaranteed to bring in billions.

“I’m thinking ahead, Zikri. Chan Ho made it clear he wanted to strengthen his footprint in the U.S. He’s only been involved for the past two years and look how much black money we turned for him. Are you sure he’d be happy if I rushed to get this one movie done only to slam the door closed on any further opportunities with one of the biggest production houses in the U.S?”

“You’re the one who doesn’t understand, Salvino. You already made that commitment to him and he’ll keep you to it. At this very moment, Chan Ho is only interested in the here and now. In what he can turn in the shortest amount of time. Yes, he walked into an established setup and we grasped at the opportunity because it doubled our income stream but as far as the Triads are concerned, they don’t give a shit how you honor your commitment in the future. It’s now and only now that matters.
